PETALING JAYA: Netizens have accused RapidKL of practising double standards by allowing Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Khairy Jamaluddin to ride on the MRT without masks.
RapidKL has been reminding commuters that they would not be permitted to access or use any of its public transportation systems without wearing face masks.
Twitter users accused RapidKL of practising double standards by allowing Ismail, Khairy and their entourage to travel on the MRT two days ago without wearing face masks.
Most asked why this rule was only enforced on regular Malaysians but not VIPs. Some also wanted the rule to be lifted.
“Is it actually mandatory or not?” @_rahmanj asked RapidKL, while @wannmox told RapidKL to mention Ismail and Khairy in its advisory.
“Mandatory? Ismail and Khairy faced no problems despite not wearing masks. Since when did we have double standards?” asked @whatsupguys007.
Meanwhile, @azimfauzi_ said he would not wear face masks when taking public transportation as the former prime minister and ex-health minister had chosen not to do so and did not face action.
Separately, @Its_Eemier complained of a lack of enforcement by RapidKL personnel despite repeated announcements over the public announcement system.
On Sunday, Ismail posted a video of him and Khairy taking the MRT from Bukit Bintang to Semantan late Saturday night.
Their entourage, together with bodyguards, did not wear face masks. Khairy and Ismail greeted and took pictures with commuters on the train.
