PETALING JAYA: Former Bachok MP Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz has been nominated for a senator’s post by the Kelantan state government.
Menteri besar Nassuruddin Daud proposed his nomination at the state legislative assembly today. It was seconded by his deputy, Fadzli Hassan.
State assembly speaker Amar Nik Abdullah then put the proposal to a vote, which was approved by a majority of the assemblymen.
Nik Abduh, who is the son of the late PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, was dropped as a candidate in the 15th general election (GE15) last November. He also did not contest the state election on Aug 12.
It was previously speculated that he might join Pakatan Harapan after he had a meeting with PH chairman Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the PKR president.
However, Nik Abduh played down the meeting, saying it had nothing to do with politics.
