PETALING JAYA: Cuepacs has proposed that the government raise the salaries of civil servants by up to RM300 and give a bonus equivalent to one-and-a-half months’ salary.
Cuepacs president Adnan Mat said raising the salaries of civil servants by up to RM300 will help ease their burden amid the rising cost of living.
“While waiting for the review of the public services salary scheme to be finalised, Cuepacs would like to ask the government to provide an additional RM300 increase in salaries for all civil servants in Budget 2024,” he said in a statement today.
While Adnan understood the government’s financial constraints, he said civil servants needed Putrajaya’s support and a bonus would motivate them to serve the people better.
He also said the last time civil servants received a bonus was in 2012.
“Cuepacs is confident that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim can look into these matters in Budget 2024,” he added.
Earlier this month, Anwar said the unity government agreed to adjust the salary scales of lecturers, professors and civil servants in the 2024 budget.
Anwar, who is also the finance minister, said this will be a temporary measure until a comprehensive study on civil service salary and pension schemes is completed next year.
