PETALING JAYA: Tanah Merah MP Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz is urging the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, Johari Abdul, to check the closed-circuit television footage to see if he was smoking a vape in the House last week.
“From the CCTV we will know the real situation,” he told FMT.
He confirmed receiving a letter from the Speaker requesting an explanation and will respond before Sept 28. He would also request that the Speaker call for all the photos taken by the prime minister’s photographer at that time.
“It is clear that he (the photographer) has malicious intent,” said Ikmal, who is with Perikatan Nasional. He said several photographs had been taken which would show that he was not holding a vape, but a pen.
However, a misleading photograph had been circulated, he said.
He said his party would lodge a police report, while he would also take action to sue for defamation.
A photograph of Ikmal leaving the Dewan Rakyat on Sept 20 went viral on social media showing him holding an object at his mouth.
