KOTA KINABALU: The Civil Defence Force (APM) has identified about 6,000 flood hotspots nationwide for the northeast monsoon season until next March, says its headquarters management division director.
Fazli Sardi said APM would focus on these areas together with other agencies, especially in providing community awareness on floods.
“This time, we will focus on community awareness so that the impact of floods can be minimised. Floods will still occur, but we want to instil in them how to face the floods.
“The lack of community awareness had a big impact previously because the flood victims did not make early preparations. We do not want this to recur,” Bernama reported him as saying.
Fazli said that as the country’s natural disaster secretariat, APM had readied its equipment and personnel to tackle the northeast monsoon season.
