KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood evacuees in Terengganu rose through the night, while the numbers in Perak remain unchanged tonight.
The number of evacuees in Terengganu rose from 893 people to 1,070 people at 8pm following continuous rains since last night.
State officials said Kuala Nerus district recorded the highest number of evacuees with 564 people from 166 families, who were housed in seven relief centres.
In Kuala Terengganu, 496 evacuees from 152 families took shelter, while 10 evacuees from three families were housed in Setiu.
In Perak, the number of evacuees remains the same, with 75 people from 22 families sheltered in Kerian.
Officials said the centres at Sekolah Kebangsaan Changkat Lobak and SK Alor Pongsu have been housing the evacuees since last month.
The public works department (JKR) announced that Jalan Selama in Kerian is closed to all vehicles. In Batang Padang, only one lane is open to light vehicles following urgent repairs on the main road due to a collapsed road shoulder.
