PETALING JAYA: A 13-year-old disabled student at a special needs secondary school in Kepala Batas, Penang, has been arrested for allegedly molesting 14 schoolmates.
In a statement, Seberang Perai Utara police chief Asri Shafie said a report was lodged on Friday (Dec 1) by the headmaster of the school and the suspect was arrested on the same day.
Asri said the victims were all aged 13 to 14 with disabilities ranging from learning and hearing problems, blindness, and autism.
He said the case is being investigated for physical sexual assault against a child.
Asri urged members of the public to not hide information on such cases, saying they can be fined up to RM5,000 for failing to report sexual offences against children.
He said sexual offences could leave prolonged effects on the emotional and mental health of children.
