PETALING JAYA:
A policeman trying to arrest two drug suspects after a car chase fractured his right wrist during a scuffle with them near Kota Bharu today.

However, despite his injury, the policeman and his colleague still managed to arrest the suspects, Kota Bharu police chief Rosdi Daud told Bernama.

He said an inspection of the car turned up chunks of dried leaves, believed to be cannabis, valued at RM700.

Rosdi said the incident occurred when the two policemen from the Kubang Kerian police station spotted two men behaving suspiciously in a car in Bandar Satelit Pasir Tumboh at 3.45am.

“When they approached the car, it sped off and police gave chase.”

The policemen later nabbed the duo in Kampung Pangkal Pisang, Melor.

“In the course of arrest, the suspects became aggressive and a scuffle broke out. This resulted in one of the policemen being kicked and sustaining a fracture in his right wrist,” Rosdi said.

“Both suspects, aged between 40 and 50, tested positive for THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). They have 23 prior criminal offences, including for drugs.

“They are also wanted for drug trafficking in Kota Bharu,” he said.

The suspects have been remanded for seven days for investigations.
