Kedah welfare, women, family, community and unity committee chairman Halimaton Shaadiah Saad said the boy was sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for further examination and treatment yesterday afternoon.
She said he is not injured but still seems traumatised by the incident.
“There is a trace of an old wound under the child’s cheek, but there are no other injuries. He can talk and wants to play when given toys, but it is like he is in his own world,” she told reporters here today.
Halimaton said the measure taken to save a non-citizen child is in line with Section 17(1)(i) of the Children’s Act 2001 and the Convention on the Rights of the Child 1995.
She said the department will also identify the boy’s next of kin to ensure his welfare, and welcomed offers by members of the Rohingya community to take care of him.
It was reported that the bodies of a woman, aged 43, and a 10-year-old girl, with wounds on their necks, were found in a drain behind an abandoned building at Pekan Simpang Kuala here on Monday.
The body of a two-year-old boy, who also had a cut on his neck and is believed to be the suspect’s third child, was found at Pantai Leman in Kuala Kedah yesterday.
A 43-year-old man was arrested at a mosque in Bukit Pinang here on Monday night. He has been remanded for a week for investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
