Anwar, who visited the flood victims in Alor Setar today, said the amount includes financial assistance provided by federal and state agencies to all flood victims who have been relocated to temporary relief centres, Berita Harian reported.
Bernama reported that RM10 million has been designated for the state and RM3 million for the Kota Setar district.
Anwar also said the government has allocated RM1,000 through the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) and another RM1,000 through the implementation coordination unit of the Prime Minister’s Department to each head of household affected by the floods.
“We have begun delivering direct aid to the flood victims, and I heard the menteri besar (Sanusi Nor) said there is also assistance from the state government.
“But what is important is that we need to assess all damage, loss of livestock, and damage to crops, to alleviate the burden faced by those affected,” he said.
Anwar told Putrajaya to monitor the flood mitigation projects currently under way in Kedah to prevent delays.
He also expressed satisfaction with the flood management in Kedah and commended all federal and state government agencies for handling the disaster responsibly.
Bernama reported that the number of evacuees in Kedah rose to 7,494 as of 8am today compared with 6,760 at 8pm yesterday.
The evacuees from 2,445 families are being placed at 42 temporary relief centres in six districts.
Kota Setar district recorded the highest number of evacuees at 3,292, followed by Kubang Pasu (1,811), Pendang (1,127), Pokok Sena (952), Kuala Muda (184) and Bandar Baharu (128).
Penang and Perlis have also been affected by floods, but the number of people at relief centres there has dropped as the weather improved.
