PKR management committee adviser Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the party would review the court’s reasoning before determining further action.
He also said PKR still has the option to seek a review at the Federal Court.
“However, in terms of the facts of the case, the conviction was upheld by the Court of Appeal.
“This means that PKR’s financial commitment charges were correct,” he told a press conference after attending the home ministry’s monthly assembly.
Yesterday, the Court of Appeal slashed the amount Zuraida must pay to PKR for breaching a party bond she signed six years ago, from RM10 million to RM100,000.
Justice See Mee Chun, who chaired a three-judge panel, said the former PKR vice-president had violated the terms of the bond but ruled that the RM10 million in damages she was ordered to pay was “exorbitant”.
The court also awarded Zuraida RM40,000 in costs.
Last year, the High Court ruled she was liable for breaching the bond and ordered her to pay the RM10 million sum stipulated in the document. She then appealed the decision.
Saifuddin, who was then PKR secretary-general, had initiated the lawsuit in 2020, accusing Zuraida of breaching the party’s electoral pact by defecting.
