KUALA LUMPUR:
Police have confirmed that a bomb threat made against a prominent building in the capital last night was false.

Brickfields police chief Hoo Chang Hook said police received a call regarding the incident at 9.09pm from a security guard at the building.

“The building’s security guard informed us that he had seen an email sent to the customer service centre stating that a bomb had been placed on the 23rd floor of the building’s north tower,” he said in a statement.

According to Hoo, a bomb disposal unit, K9 unit and forensic unit were then deployed to the location to conduct a search and found that it was a false threat.

The case is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 507 of the Penal Code.
