28 Malaysian GSF 2.0 activists return home safely

Twenty-eight Malaysians who were detained by the Israeli army in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 humanitarian mission to Gaza arrived home safely on Sunday night.

The activists, together with Sumud Nusantara Command Center (SNCC) director-general Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby, left Istanbul International Airport at about 2.20am local time on Saturday.

They transited through Dubai before arriving at KLIA Terminal 1 at 9.30pm.

They were welcomed by Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari, Sik MP Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman and more than 100 relatives and supporters, Bernama reported.

The volunteers included Norazman Ishak, Hareez Adzrami, Nor Liyana Farhan Daud, Zainal Rashid Ahmad, Ahmad Musa Al-Nuwayri Kamaruzaman, Hazwan Hazim Dermawan, Norhelmi Ab Ghani, Hanafi Salim and Shamsir Isa.

Also on the mission were Redzal Amzah, Zaid Abdul Karim, Al-Ahmad Shah Abdul Kadir, Farizzal Rostam, Chin Shiau Weai, Abdul Samad Selamat, Shazly Shees, Tengku Ahmad Taufik Tengku Noor Zahari, Syed Aminul Syafiq Syed Iskandar and Osman Zulkifli.

The others were Jihan Alya Nordin, Amirul Afif Azhar; S Patmanathan, Syakirin Senin, Muhsin Zaidi, Abdul Rahim Abdul Razak, Eddy Noor Amin, Noor Thanisah Tajudin and Naufa Azhar.

Another participant, Razman Mat Ali, is still in Istanbul, Turkey, for treatment of a punctured lung, said to have been sustained after he was punched by Israeli soldiers.

Previously, SNCC confirmed that all 50 GSF 2.0 mission ships carrying 430 humanitarian activists, including 29 Malaysians, had been detained by Israel after being intercepted near the waters of Cyprus on May 18.
