MADONNA DI CAMPIGLIO: Norway’s Henrik Kristoffersen won the night-time world cup slalom at Madonna Di Campiglio on Thursday ahead of arch-rival Austria’s Marcel Hirscher, with local skier Stefano Gross in third.
The 22-year-old Kristoffersen was world cup champion in the discipline last season, but Hirscher is top of the standings after this race.
Kristoffersen won the Val d’Isère slalom a week ago but was absent at Levi, Norway, when Hirscher won before coming second in the two races the Norwegian clinched ahead of him.
He was fastest in both legs of the event but said afterwards: “I could have done much, much better.”
