Quartararo delivers first MotoGP podium finish for Petronas
Today’s victory is also Fabio Quartararo’s first ever podium since making a debut in the premier class last March.
KUALA LUMPUR: French rookie, Fabio Quartararo delivered the Petronas Yamaha SRT MotoGP team its first podium finish in MotoGP as the 20-year-old rider finished second at the Catalan Grand Prix (GP) in Spain, tonight.
Today’s victory also was his first ever podium since making a debut in the premier class, last March.
It was an unbelievable as well as a memorable victory for Quartararo after just 12 days ago he had an arm pump surgery.
Quartararo clocked 40 minutes and 33.835 seconds to settle behind reigning world champion and current championship leader, Marc Marquez of Repsol Honda Team (40:31.175s) while Mission Winnow Ducati rider, Danilo Petrucci of Spain came in third with 40:35.712s.
The country’s first MotoGP rider, Hafizh Syahrin of Red Bull KTM Tech 3 who started the race in the last position and Quartararo teammate, Franco Morbidelli both failed to finish the race.
Marquez’s teammate, Jorge Lorenzo took out Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP dynamic duo, Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales as well as Italian Andrea Dovizioso of Mission Winnow Ducati with 23 laps to go after the 32-year-old Spaniard lost control of his bike at turn 10.

In Moto2 class, Petronas Sprinta Racing rider Jonas Folger of Germany finished in 19th place with a time of 39:05.119s, while both Ayumu Sasaki of Japan and John Mcphee of Great Britain ended the race in eight and 13th positions respectively in Moto3 class.
