ALOR SETAR: A narrow 1-0 win over Felda United in the FA Cup semi-final first leg last night gave Kedah a slight advantage in the second leg match at Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Jengka, Pahang on June 30.
Kedah’s head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak said it is hoped the slim lead would spur players to continue giving their best as they cannot afford to take it easy.
“I am happy with the result even though it is just a one-goal win, but we must remember the battle is far from over,” he told reporters after the match here last night.
Commenting on the game, Aidil said the squad had many chances but luck was not on their side.
“I hope my boys would maintain their fitness as the team has a packed schedule this month,” he said.
Meanwhile, Felda United head coach Mohd Nizam Jamil confessed the team playing in Darul Aman could only defend as several key players were not fielded due to injuries and match suspension.
“I hope to field a full-strength team in the return match to steal the final slot from Kedah,” he said.
Despite launching incessant attacks, Kedah could only muster a 1-0 win over Felda United at Darul Aman Stadium last night.
The only goal of the game was scored by Brazilian import Fernando Rodriguez via a penalty in the 69th minute.
