KUALA LUMPUR: Professional mixed doubles pair Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying booked their semi-finals spot at the Indonesia Open after defeating host pair Tontowi Ahmad-Winny Oktavina on Friday.

The Rio Olympics silver medallists took 60 minutes to record a 21-11, 14-21, 21-14 victory over their Indonesian opponents.

Victory over the Indonesians is sweet revenge for Chan-Goh after being dumped out of the second round of the All England in March.

Chan-Goh will next face tournament second seeds Wang Yi Lyu-Huang Dongping from China.

The Chinese pairing defeated Malaysians Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie, 21-4, 21-15 in their quarter-final game.

Chan says their semi-final opponents from China are formidable opponents, but it is not impossible to beat them.

“We have a 2-2 record against Wang Yi Lyu-Huang Dongping,” Chan told Utusan.

“So tomorrow I hope we can extend the record to 3-2 against them.

“They are difficult opponents, but it is not impossible to beat them. Our confidence and mental strength is high right now, that will help us tomorrow.”
