KUALA LUMPUR: Low Wee Wern and Ivan Yuen were crowned champions after defeating Rachel Arnold and Ng Eain Yow respectively at the National Squash Championships.
Low proves experience overcomes everything triumphing over Rachel 11-6, 7-11, 11-9, 11-3 at Nicol David Squash Arena in Bukit Jalil on Sunday.
She had spent a total of 20 months out due to a knee injury, returning in July last year.
“I am happy to be able to play squash at the highest level again despite missing many matches due to the injury,” said Low.
“I am pleased to be able to return to this level and claim the title again.”
Claiming her third title after 2012 and 2014, the 28-year-old admitted that Rachel had played well in the final.
“But I think I am more experienced. I just need to work a bit and try to do better, ” said the 2018 Malaysian Open champion.
The world No 23 added the victory would boost her preparations for the China Open in September.
Meanwhile, in the men’s category, Ivan defeated Ng 11-7, 8-11, 12-10, 11-9 for his third consecutive national title.
“From the beginning I knew it would be a tough and dangerous match especially Ng is young and determined to win this match.
“Losing the second game made it harder but I am happy to be able to turn it around and secure the win,” he said.
