KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing Team (SRT) are now focusing on the 2019 San Marino Grand Prix after their riders displayed strong pace and excellent teamwork at Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom on Sunday.

Italian Franco Morbidelli recorded his best result ever in MotoGP this season after finishing fifth in the 2019 British Grand Prix.

The team principal Razlan Razali said they were delighted with Morbidelli’s result and expect better things to come from him.

“This weekend at Silverstone we’ve shown strong pace and superb team-work. We’re very happy for Franco to attain his best result so far in MotoGP and we expect even better things to come from him. It was an unfortunate accident for Fabio Quartararo who had shown great pace all weekend.

“In Moto3, Ayumu Sasaki and John McPhee fought well and they were both in contention for a place on the podium which was great (sixth and seventh placing respectively).

“In Moto2, we’d like to thank Bradley Smith for his efforts in stepping back to the category after being out for a long period of time. Our focus is now on Misano,” he said in the statement.

The next event in the 2019 MotoGP championship gets underway at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on Sept 13, with race day at the San Marino Grand Prix on Sunday, Sept 15.

Meanwhile, Morbidelli admitted that finishing fifth was a good result for him and the crew.

“It’s a good point to start the next race and I feel that we can use what we’ve learned this weekend to improve further,” he said.
