BAM boss asks shuttler Jin Wei to be left alone after colon removal surgery
19-year-old suffering from stomach ailment to miss SEA Games next month.
KUALA LUMPUR: Women’s singles shuttler Goh Jin Wei successfully underwent a colectomy surgery to remove part of her colon yesterday in a bid to save her career.
The former world junior champion has been battling a stomach ailment since January.
According to BA of Malaysia president Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria, the 2017 SEA Games gold medallist is in good spirits and recovering well.
“We ask for everyone to allow her as much privacy and space as possible during this precious time as we are certain she will come back stronger than ever,” he said in an Instagram post today.
“You are in our warmest thoughts, Jin Wei!”
As a result, the 19-year-old would likely miss the Manila Games (Nov 30-Dec 11).

She had also given up hope of qualifying for her first Olympics in Tokyo next year after skipping many tournaments.
