
Originally scheduled to be held from Nov 21-Dec 2, the Games were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) in a statement said the date of the biennial Games was confirmed during the South East Asian Games Federation (SEAGF) meeting held virtually today.
OCM said a total of 40 sports and 526 events would be contested at the Games.
OCM were represented by three delegates led by their president Norza Zakaria, vice-president Mumtaz Jaffar and secretary-general Nazifuddin Najib while Sieh Kok Chi was also present in his capacity as an Honorary Member of SEAGF.
The meeting also decided the next SEA Games in Cambodia would be held from May 5-17 in 2023 with 42 games proposed by the Cambodia SEA Games Organising Committee.
The following edition would be in Bangkok in 2025 with the dates, sports and events to be confirmed later.
