BANGKOK: Three of six prisoners escaped from the Lang Suan Court in Chumphon, southern Thailand, Thursday in a daring move that was recorded by security cameras.

Three of them, who tried to escape on foot, were rearrested by guards but the other three remain at large after they fled the court in the prison’s pickup truck used to transport them.

According to local media reports, the prison warden driving the vehicle was reckless as he had left the truck unattended with the key still in the vehicle when he transferred the prisoners to the court.

Seeing an opportunity to escape, three of the prisoners ran towards the court entrance but were overpowered and caught by pursuing guards, while the three others drove off in the prison vehicle.

In their haste to escape, the prisoners in the stolen truck rammed the vehicle against the steel gate of the court and ran over one prisoner who was pinned to the ground by a guard.

It was unclear whether the prisoner suffered any injuries in the incident.
