Ranger killed, 5 others injured in Narathiwat bombing

NARATHIWAT: An army ranger officer was shot dead while five other rangers were injured in a bomb explosion in Kg Wang Thong, Ranget, Narathiwat yesterday.

Narathiwat police chief Dussadee Chusangkij said in the incident at 3.30pm, the ranger officer was on his way home when he was shot by an unknown person, believed to be hiding in a jungle area.

He said the victim died at the scene.

“About 30 minutes later, a bomb placed by the roadside, exploded not far from the shooting incident, injuring five other rangers who were at the location.

“The victims are now being treated at Narathiwat Ratchanakharin Hospital,” he said.
