We mean business: Bite into the massively trending MeanSandwich KL
Heralding the future of affordable gourmet sandwich delivery in the Klang Valley, MeanSandwich KL is a lean, mean, sandwich machine
By The Level and FMT
The buzz around MeanSandwich KL has been building recently, with foodies and bloggers raving about how good its offerings are, and how unique it is compared to other sandwich peddlers in its league.
A homegrown brand founded by University Malaya graduate Natasha Johanif (Tasha), MeanSandwich KL was created with the aim of offering tasty, healthy and affordable fare using quality ingredients for the masses, and which would be delivered straight to their door. Tasha was soon joined by fellow uni-mate Sahaq Ibrahim, who has helped her develop the brand into the burgeoning success that it is today.
Deliveries are made every other day – and the list of locations is growing longer and longer by the day. To provide would-be fans with a taste of how ‘mean’ MeanSandwich KL’s offerings really are, the rising F&B star recently participated in Publika’s Rantai Kechill Fest, where its booth attracted long lines of lip-smacking consumers.
The menu section is limited, but for good reason – MeanSandwich KL is focusing on creating the best signature sandwiches available, before expanding their spread of offerings somewhere down the line.
Taste-wise, MeanSandwich KL’s fare is spectacular. The salmon, chicken, and vegetables are fresh, while the green tea and coriander flavors are zestfully sharp. The bread is slightly dry, but that’s compensated for by the delicious secret sauces that go on it.
The best part about the sandwiches is their well-balanced flavours – so you get to taste everything simultaneously and distinctly. The ingredients used are organic, making the sandwiches perfect for health junkies, and you also don’t get that sleepy/zonked-out post-meal feeling after having a meal.
In terms of price, MeanSandwich KL’s meals are definitely a bargain. Just RM5 for Chicken and RM8 for Salmon? That’s insane (but we’ll take it!)
Delivery
MeanSandwich KL’s sandwiches are distributed to customers across the Klang Valley every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. For specifics on times and locations, or to place and order, visit their Facebook page or give them a buzz (details provided below).
In summary, MeanSandwich KL is better than most popular delis in KL (and that particular sandwich store that’s supposedly available in subway stations). We say give them a shot and #supportlocal. Rating: 7/10.
