No deaths from the disease were reported, said Perlis Director of Health Dr Zaini Hussin.
He said the El Nino phenomenon, which had brought with it dry weather, was expected to cause an increase in dengue fever cases.
He advised the people to join community activities to eradicate the breeding grounds of the Aedes mosquito, which is the carrier of the dengue virus.
Last year, Perlis recorded 253 dengue fever cases, down from 317 cases in 2014. No deaths from the disease were reported for both years in Perlis.
“The drop in the number of cases can be attributed to the eradication of the Aedes mosquitoes’ breeding grounds, the best way to check the disease,” he said, but lamented that some people assumed that dengue was not their problem.
