KUALA LUMPUR:
The case against Prime Minister Najib Razak over the controversial RM2.6 billion donation probably remains open as far as the public is concerned although it may have been resolved legally, according to Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

Speaking to reporters here, he said Attorney-General Apandi Ali’s explanation yesterday might not be sufficient to convince the public of Najib’s innocence.

“If the A-G says there is no case, then there is no case,” Tengku Razaleigh said. “The answers satisfy the present situation, because there is no case to answer to.

“Legally, that is the position, but things might be different in the court of public opinion.”

At a press conference yesterday, Apandi cleared Najib of any criminal wrongdoing pertaining to the Saudi donation and RM42 million transferred to him from the state-owned SRC International.
