PETALING JAYA: Gerakan today criticised the Selangor state government for ignoring voices of concern from anti-Damansara–Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH) groups.

In a statement, Selangor Gerakan chairman David Ang said that Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali had used the reason of “redrafting the highway blueprint” as a “delaying tactic”.

“It is quite obvious that Azmin Ali prefers to cover up issues instead of pushing for people-friendly policies, sweep all controversial issues under the mat, window dressing them to deceive the people,” Ang said in a statement.

He added that Bukit Lanjan assemblywoman Elizabeth Wong had failed in her duty as a people’s representative and had also betrayed the people’s trust by not following up on public complaints.

“As an assemblywoman in the constituency, all she did was just meet the group in a mere procedural manner last year. She did not bring up the concerns raised by the residents in the state assembly, let alone fight for a solution that safeguards the interests of the residents.

“She is nothing more than a nominal assemblywoman, that is being submissive to public projects mooted by the state government which affect the lifestyle and public health of residents,” the statement read.

Ang urged the Selangor government, led by Azmin , to prove to the people that they did not choose a state government they thought was different.

He reminded Azmin that he should implement the manifesto promised under the “Buku Jingga”, which aimed to improve the public transport system, instead of approving highway projects for profit.
