Malacca authorities see red over lewd-shaped sausages

PETALNG JAYA: A trader selling gifts and souvenirs at a shop in the tourist hot-spot of Jonker Walk in historic Malacca angered state authorities when it was found that he was also selling lewd-shaped sausages as a novelty item.

According to a report in The Star Online, so outraged was the Malacca Historic City Council that they immediately revoked the trader’s business licence.

Commenting on the incident, Mayor Zainal Hussin said, “The trader also violated the by-law by selling food items when the licence only stipulated that souvenirs and gifts could be sold by him.”

Weighing in on the issue was Chief Minister Idris Haron, who said the “lewd things”, pictures of which had gone viral on social media, could tarnish the image of Malacca as a tourist attraction.

“This trader was not supposed to be selling such items at a crowded place,” Idris said of the sausages that had been on the market for two weeks.

Customers however will likely be somewhat disappointed at the disappearance of this item since at only RM5 each, they were a hit.
