PETALING JAYA:
An international recall of Mars and Snickers bars produced in a Netherlands factory does not include Malaysia as the country’s supply comes from China, Australia and the US.

According to a report in Astro Awani, the products made in the Netherlands were being recalled after a piece of plastic was found in one of the bars in Germany.

The food manufacturing company however said the case was an isolated one.

According to Mars Chocolate Southeast Asia and Thailand general manager, Terry Seremetis, the company decided to take precautionary steps after the case was made known to them and voluntarily recalled a selection of Snickers, Mars, Milky Way and Celebrations products produced in the factory concerned.

“The recall concerns only specific products that were manufactured at the Netherlands facility during a limited production period, December 5, 2015 until January 18, 2016, Seremetis said, adding that it was an isolated case and no other varieties of chocolate, pack formats or bar sizes were affected and no products manufactured at any other location, impacted.

“Specifically to Malaysia, this voluntary recall does not affect any of the chocolate products sold by DKSH Malaysia Sdn Bhd, our appointed distributor, as these products are imported from China, Australia and the US,” Seremetis said in a media statement.

He also explained that as a responsible food manufacturer, quality and safety were top priority for MARS Inc.

Consumers who have questions about the recall could contact Mars Foods Malaysia at 03-7844 3300.
