PETALING JAYA:
Kijal assemblyman and former menteri besar of Terengganu Ahmad Said has advised Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Azalina Othman Said against touching on the issue of divorce as she is not even married herself and knows nothing about a “man’s right” to get a divorce.

Ahmad said this in response to Azalina accusing him of being “divorce crazy” after he tabled a motion of no confidence against present Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman.

“She cannot talk about divorce. She is unmarried, and does not know what divorce is.

“Divorce is a man’s right, not a woman’s,” Ahmad told FMT.

He insisted that he tabled the motion for the well-being of the people of Terengganu, and not because he himself wanted to become the next MB.

“I fight for the state and the interests of the people in Terengganu, there is no personal interest. If I wanted to become MB, I would’ve done so a long time ago when PAS wanted to appoint me. I said no.

“My advice is, if you don’t know anything about Terengganu politics, don’t make stupid comments,” he said.

Yesterday, Azalina said Ahmad would be willing to do anything to be MB again.

“Everyone knows Ahmad is divorce crazy. He will keep trying until he gets it.

“The majority is against it, so his motion will not be passed. He has the right to table it as many times as he wants, but it is not going to work,” she had said.
