Nasir Safar: A wave of declarations supporting Najib’s leadership to begin in Johor and move across country

PONTIAN:
Former Umno youth members are being mobilised to explain the most recent political issues and to reiterate their support for Prime Minister Najib Razak, according to the campaign organiser Nasir Safar.

Nasir, who is president of the Malaysian Association of Youth Club Veterans, said a wave of declarations supporting Najib’s leadership would begin in Johor and subsequently move across the country.

He would go to the ground with several other committee members to explain current issues which had been manipulated by certain quarters.

“We will hold a large gathering of MAYC veterans and current members in Kuala Lumpur in May,” he told journalists after a dinner with 200 Johor veteran MAYC members here on Saturday.

Nasir, who was Johor Umno Youth leader from 1988 to 1993, said veteran MAYC members were disappointed at the latest developments especially with former Umno leaders linking up with their traditional opposition rivals.

Nasir said the action of former Umno leaders such as former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad, who was cooperating with the opposition such as DAP, could not be forgiven.

In addition, a memorandum from former youth leaders, from 1988 to 1993, would also be handed to the prime minister as a sign of support as Najib had also held the Umno youth chief’s post from 1987 to 1993.

“We are prepared to rise again to help unite society, other than helping to furnish correct information which prior to this was twisted by the opposition,” he said.

It is estimated that the MAYC veterans had 10,000 members while the MAYC membership is 20,000 to 30,000 nationwide.
