Maxis CEO Morten Lundal, in a live video feed on the telco’s Facebook page, also offered all Maxis One Plan customers a higher Internet quota.
Lundal stressed that Maxis had always focused on offering unique products that “excited” people.
However, he admitted the company took “too much time” trying to add more features, instead of providing higher quotas for Internet data.
“While we were developing these new plans, some individual customers were offered tailored plans.
“This angered some of you, and it doesn’t fit in with our company’s commitment to fairness and transparency.
“We were late in responding to you and we treated individual customers differently, and for that, we are sorry,” Lundal said.
The company’s Head of Consumer Business Dushyan Vaithiyanathan also spoke during the video feed, elaborating on new upgrades for Maxis customers.
He stressed that the upgrades and benefits were not only tailored to new customers, but to all existing Maxis One Plan customers.
Dushyan said the upgrades would only be available later this month, and until then, all Maxis One Plan customers would receive 3GB (gigabytes) of Internet data, starting next week.
When the upgrades take effect, users who are on the 1GB data plan will have 5GB, and 3GB users will get to enjoy 8GB of data, at no extra charge.
Maxis came under fire when a Maxis user recently posted about his experience about the telco offering a cheaper plan in East Malaysia and only offering a similar plan to customers when they wanted to port out.
