The incident happened in the early afternoon at Taman Iskandar Perdana here. The 30-year-old woman had gone there to visit relatives. She was apparently so excited about the meeting that she left the car as soon as she had parked it, leaving the key inside. The Nissan Grand Livina locked itself automatically.
It was only about an hour later that she realised what she had done. The girl was sweating and crying.
Seri Iskandar Fire and Rescue Chief Zaiful Effendi Ahmad said he despatched five rescuers to the scene as soon as he received a call from the distressed woman.
“The child was crying and sweating and looked rather weak,” he said. “Our officers asked the woman’s permission to break the rear windshield and the child was safely removed and handed over to her mother.”
Zaiful Effendi said that after interviewing the woman, he concluded that she forgot her daughter was with her because the child was probably asleep in the back seat when she arrived at the place.
