PETALING JAYA: A Singapore-bound commercial flight had to turn back to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang here yesterday after the airport authorities received a call claiming that there were explosives on board the aircraft.
Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said the aircraft, carrying 30 passengers and four crew, took off from the airport at 7.39pm.
“A few minutes after its departure, the airport received a call from an unidentified caller who said that there were explosives on board the aircraft and the control tower immediately ordered the flight to turn back,” he said when met at the scene.
He said the aircraft landed at the airport and was directed to a special area before being examined by the bomb squad.
“Following inspection, no bomb or explosives were found,” he said, adding that police were in the midst of tracking down the individual who made the fake call.
