Former Armed Forces man Noor Hasni Saad, 50, said this when asked why he had lodged a police report today, urging the authorities to sieve through the 900,000 signatories to check if they were dead or alive.
“The police forensics team can call all of them one by one and ask them if they have signed the declaration.
“Who knows, perhaps my late mother’s name or my wife’s name may be on the list.
“Police must investigate immediately,” he told reporters after lodging a report at the Kepala Batas police station here today.
Hasni, who is also a community activist, said the signatures in support of the Citizens’ Declaration might spell the death knell to peace in the country.
“I want our country to be peaceful without any ‘celaka’ trying to ruin it through these signatures.”
A freelance computer programmer, Azharuddin Othman, recently claimed he had sold a database containing 900,000 names to the Citizens’ Declaration movement.
Azharuddin alleged he was approached by one “Ratu Naga” who wanted to buy the database. Syarul Ema has since denied any involvement.
The Citizens’ Declaration is a movement led by former Premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad and comprises prominent Umno and Opposition leaders, as well as social activists. Their core demand is for Prime Minister Najib Razak to step down.
