PETALING JAYA:
Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin today called on PAS to be “open minded”, after the party’s youth wing demanded a ban on the concert of American pop star Selena Gomez.

“We live in a multiracial country, we need to respect the rights of others too.

“The question of her (Gomez) being “sexy” is a matter of perception. She has her own following. I just hope our youths won’t follow her style of dressing and her lifestyle,” he told FMT.

Yesterday, PAS Islamic Propagation Bureau Chairman Hafez Sabri claimed Gomez was synonymous with a “sexy” image and her appearance here would tarnish the sanctity of Syawal that follows the holy month of Ramadan.

He also urged the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) to come out with an official stand on the matter besides pushing for Gomez to be barred from entering the country.

Gomez is set to perform at the Malawati Stadium in Shah Alam next Monday.
