MELAKA:
Malaysia does not want the intervention of foreign hands in the country’s administration, including on the issue of the lawsuits filed by the United States (US) Department of Justice (DOJ) in connection with 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Melaka Chief Minister Idris Haron said the intervention by the US on the issue was seen as an attempt to interfere in Malaysia’s administration.

“I am surprised with the quick action by the US to interfere in Malaysia’s administration when the country (US) itself is having issues of its own which are closer to their people and have yet to be resolved,” he told reporters when met at an Aidilfitri Open House hosted by the chairman of Gagasan Badan Ekonomi Melayu (Gabem) Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik here today.

Last Tuesday, the US Department of Justice filed lawsuits seeking to seize dozens of properties tied to Malaysian state fund 1MDB, saying that over USD3.5 billion was allegedly misappropriated from the institution.
