The Star reported that suppliers and manufacturers had stopped supplying such posters to business owners after the council started issuing summonses.
The daily spoke to a salon operator, known only as Wang, who said suppliers stopped providing posters to him after council officers started imposing fines on salon owners several years ago and. now, he had been forced to fork out more to design new ones.
According to him, the council officers had claimed that some of the posters were “too sexy”. This includes posters of hair models without their heads covered, at hair salons.
Recently, a non-Muslim watch retailer was summoned by the council over two “sexy” posters at their premises, including one of Indian actress Aishwarya Rai.
