Donation boxes, antique clock stolen from mosque

Police believe more than one suspect involved in the theft.

NIBONG TEBAL: Two donation boxes and an antique clock were stolen from the Sungai Kechil Mosque here yesterday.

Seberang Perai Selatan police chief Supt Shafee Abdul Samad said the items were noticed missing by the ‘tok siak’ (caretaker of the mosque) early yesterday.

“Investigations found that the door was not locked,” he said, adding that more than one suspect was believed to be involved in this case.

Meanwhile in GEORGE TOWN, a 39-year-old man was detained while trying to steal cash from a donation box at a Hindu temple at Jalan Lintang Ayer Itam here early today.

Timur Laut police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said the unemployed man, who has four criminal records, would be remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations.
