According to Malaysia China International Trade Link Association (Macita) vice-president Tan Eng Wah, the Chinese are opting to buy “Made in Malaysia” products after a series of tainted and fake food scandals there.
“Malaysians used to bring back China products to sell here, but today, the trend has changed. We are bringing our products to be sold there,” English daily The Star reported Tan, who is in the healthcare business in China, as saying.
Tan will be sharing his experience in doing business in China at the three-day Malaysia-China Silk Road Economic Forum, set to be held at the Sunway Resort Hotel here beginning September 3.
Some 1,000 local entrepreneurs and government officials are expected to attend the forum, which will also see the participation of some 90 China-national entrepreneurs.
The event is aimed at improving international trade and economic collaboration between Malaysia and China, while promoting bilateral ties and networking among entrepreneurs from both countries, said the report.
