PETALING JAYA:
Internal problems in Penang Gerakan have been sorted out, party president Mah Siew Keong and state party chief Teng Chang Yeow said today after a face-to-face meeting between them.

“I want to tell the media that everything is okay, Teng was quoted as saying today.

“We (Teng and Mah) had a four-eyed meeting on Thursday, we managed to come to an understanding and found several approaches to deal with the issues”, he said, according to Malaysiakini.

Penang Gerakan has been plagued by talk of in-fighting when deputy secretary-general Thor Teong Gee resigned from all party posts after being publicly criticised by the Penang vice-chairman Oh Tong Keong.

The squabble was about Thor’s qualification to be the election candidate for the Sungai Pinang state constituency.

Nibong Tebal secretary Lim Boon Han then urged Mah to take a serious look at the incompetence of Penang Gerakan’s leadership, cronyism, and the exclusion of members with divergent views from the state leaders.

Mah then imposed a gag order on further airing of party disputes.

Teng said today that “the media can ask about (his talks with Mah), but we will tell you very little as most will be kept between Mah, me and the central leadership.”

Teng said Mah should have been in Paris, but chose to attend the Penang Gerakan delegates meeting. “It shows how important the party is to him. He was here to listen to the delegates,” Teng said.
