
Zahid, who confirmed this in his latest post on his Twitter account, said he was relayed the information when he contacted the deceased family.
“I just spoke to the family of TG Dt Dr Harun Din (Tuan Guru Datuk Dr Haron Din). The family is in agreement that he be laid to rest in San Francisco. The funeral prayers will be conducted at the Masjid AnNur there,” he wrote.
Earlier, Zahid said that Prime Minister Najib Razak and he had arranged for an aircraft to bring back the remains from the United States.
Haron had died at 10.10am today (Malaysian time) at Stanford University Hospital in San Francisco where he had been under treatment for a heart ailment.
He was 76.
He leaves behind his wife Khatijah Salleh and five children – two sons and three daughters.
