PETALING JAYA:
Batu MP Tian Chua and PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin were taken into police custody last night following the Bersih 5 rally.

Tian Chua announced his arrest through Twitter. “Luckily I was able to take a shower,” he said. “Glad that I will be with other #Bersih5 activists and have some good rest in the lock up.”

He is being investigated under the Penal Code for rioting.

Zuraida’s arrest was announced through WhatsApp by PKR Communications Director Fahmi Fadzil. He did not say under what law she was detained.

In an earlier tweet, Tian Chua said police had surrounded his house and that he expected to be arrested.

“Police in front of my house,” he said. “Looks like I will be arrested tonight. #LawanTetapLawan.”

Yesterday, police also arrested Perak assemblyman Howard Lee Chuan How, artist Fahmi Reza, political activist Hishamuddin Rais, Bersih rally goer Siew Tech Soon and Red Shirt leader Armand Azha Abu Hanifah.
