He was further challenged to issue a White Paper on the Sabah water scandal.
“Musa’s remarks in the Sabah Assembly on Tuesday over Shafie’s former ministry were cowardly,” said Christopher Toguk Masudal, Special Officer to PWS Deputy President Darell Leiking, in a statement.
It was reported that Musa had told the Sabah Assembly that the state government had never been informed of projects undertaken by the Federal Rural and Regional Development Ministry in Sabah when it was headed by “a former minister”.
Musa had reportedly said the ministry had dealt directly with state agencies, such as the Sabah Water Department (SWD), when carrying out projects in Sabah.
Musa had said this when answering a supplementary question from Tamparuli Assemblyman Wilfred Bumburing on the Sabah water scandal.
Masudal asked if the Sabah government had no autonomy over even the state civil service if a federal ministry could easily bypass the chief minister.
The question that should be raised, he said, was why the SWD did not brief the state government on projects in the state.
Masudal pointed out that the SWD engineers, director and deputy director were appointed by the state government.
“So, Musa cannot allege that Shafie or his ministry never consulted him on projects (water) but dealt directly instead with state agencies,” he said.
He warned that it would be assumed the chief minister was playing politics in the state legislative assembly if he did not repeat his allegations in public.
Masudal said he was giving an “interim reply”, while waiting for the hansard and video of Musa’s “innuendos and allegations”.
“As head of the state government, Musa had the power to call the engineers, deputy director and director for detailed briefings,” said Masudal.
If it had not been done, he continued, it showed the failure of the state administration.
“There was rampant abuse and corruption in SWD by the very same people appointed by the state government,” he said.
Masudal headed a failed “Remove Musa” campaign in 2014.
