PETALING JAYA: A policeman died after he jumped from the fourth floor of an apartment in Cheras, in a bid to escape a raid by the religious authorities.
According to a Berita Harian report, the incident happened at 3am today, when officers from the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) carried out a raid against khalwat (close proximity) at the apartment in Pandan Perdana.
In one of the rooms, the Jais officers found a woman, with one of the room’s windows open. The religious officers saw a man lying at the bottom of the apartment block.
The woman admitted that the policeman from the Bukit Jalil police station was her lover and that he had leapt from the apartment for fear of getting caught.
The victim was rushed to the Ampang Hospital but was pronounced dead at 6.45am.
In Puchong Perdana, another policeman was hurt after he too tried to evade a raid by Jais. The identity of the policeman remains unknown and he is reportedly in critical condition.
