Ministry sec-gen and sons nabbed in anti-graft probe

MACC to investigate the father-and-sons-team for abuse of power, graft and money laundering.

KSU
PUTRAJAYA:
The magistrate’s court today granted a seven-day remand order for a secretary-general of a ministry and his two sons who were arrested yesterday to facilitate investigations for abuse of power, graft and money laundering.

The 59-year-old secretary-general, who carries a “Datuk” title, and his two sons – aged 34 and 29 – are being investigated after MACC officers found cash in foreign denominations and gold bars worth about RM3 million in a raid yesterday.

The raiding party also seized several luxury watches, expensive handbags and fountain pens.

It is learnt that the secretary-general is being investigated for abusing his post and position to accept bribes, while his sons are being probed for being accomplices.
