
GEORGE TOWN: An Indonesian man has appeared to claim the 4-year-old boy who was placed in the care of police after he was found wandering outside a convenience store in Bukit Jambul here this morning.
A passerby had called the police after spotting the boy loitering and looking lost.
Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the boy was picked up at 4.30pm by the father, a construction worker from Indonesia.
Mior said police returned the boy to the parent immediately.
It is learnt the boy had been left with his aunt at home by his parents who had gone out of town.
According to a family friend, the boy had wandered from home on his own while the aunt was in the shower.
The boy’s house is near the convenience store where he was found.
