According to Bernama, the 19-year-old suspect was arrested in Johor Bahru at 3.30pm yesterday following a police report lodged over the matter.
Johor police chief Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said police also seized a SIM card belonging to the suspect.
The case is being investigated under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which carries a fine of not more than RM50,000 or a jail sentence of not more than one year or both, upon conviction.
Today’s arrest follows that of a man known as “Mat Tere” from Kota Bharu who was nabbed for the same offence last Wednesday.
Mat Tere was featured in a video making an offensive statement against the prince and was arrested on Feb 8 in Kota Bharu.
Members of the public had claimed that Mat Tere was “challenged” in some physical aspects, which may have been used by certain quarters to their advantage.
Tunku Ismail Ibrahim subsequently stepped in to secure Mat Tere’s release after meeting him yesterday.
