PETALING JAYA:
The CCTV video footage of Kim Jong Nam’s murder at the klia2 on Feb 13 is out on YouTube.

A few local media outlets have uploaded the full edited clip of the events from the moment Jong Nam, who is the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, entered klia2 until his collapse at a clinic inside the airport.

The video clip was lifted from the same source, a Japanese TV programme. It is not known how the Japanese station got hold of the three minute-long edited video clip of the CCTV footage.

The coverage of the CCTV footage is clear, with the victim’s face clearly recognisable, showing him entering the airport, then looking up at the flight schedules screen.

He then proceeds to the self check-in kiosk, which is where the two women suspects currently in police custody, had snuck up on him and carried out what turned out to be a fatal attack.

The video is slightly blurred on the actual moment of attack, presumably due to the distance of the CCTV camera from the scene of the crime, and the “zooming in” effect done during the editing process. Also, there are two different angles shown of the attack.

The women are then seen heading in two different directions immediately after the attack, with the Vietnamese suspect heading out, and as previously reported, she was later caught on CCTV taking a taxi outside the airport.

After going to the information counter, Jong Nam is led by airport security and an airport customer service staff to the police beat, and is thereafter escorted to the clinic in the airport.

It is here that Jong Nam is last seen walking and approaching the clinic counter, before the clip jumps and shows clinic staff putting him on a stretcher and wheeling him into the treatment room.

Jong Nam, who is the eldest son of former North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, arrived in Malaysia on Feb 6, and was at klia2 on Feb 13, to catch a 10.30am flight to Macau when he was attacked by two women at about 9am. One of the women sprayed a rapid-acting poison at him while the other covered his face with a piece of cloth.

He died on the way to hospital after having earlier collapsed in the clinic located inside the airport.
