PETALING JAYA:
Employees at budget hotels in Sepang say there was absolutely nothing suspicious about Doan Thi Huong when she checked in on Feb 11 although they do remember the 28-year-old Vietnamese girl, according to Sin Chew Daily.

Doan, who is now a suspect in the murder of Kim Jong Nam, may have cut an unforgettable figure, wearing a T-shirt with the letters “LOL” – the acronym for “laugh out loud” – and toting a large teddy bear when she walked into three different hotels in the area.

However, employees at the hotel said Doan had not aroused any suspicions.

“There was nothing suspicious about her. Until police informed us she was a murder suspect,” the Chinese daily quoted hotel staff as saying.

Doan stayed at Qlassic Hotel, City View Hotel and Sky Star Hotel from Feb 11 to 15. The Chinese daily also said Doan had complained to the desk staff of City View Hotel about the Internet speed in her room.

“We advised her to surf the web at the lobby where the connection is better.

“Coming down to the lobby might have made her feel uncomfortable and she checked out on Feb 13,” the unnamed hotel employee told Sin Chew Daily.

City View Hotel staff added that Doan had asked for a pair of scissors which they claimed she used to cut her hair.

Doan was arrested on Feb 15 after being identified as one of two women who had attacked the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, after her image was captured on a closed-circuit television (CCTV) recording.

Doan and Indonesian Siti Aishah allegedly killed Jong Nam by spraying rapid acting poison on his face, then covering it with a piece of cloth, although both have since claimed they were told they were taking part in a prank.

The son of late North Korean leader Kim Jong Il arrived in Malaysia on Feb 6 and was at klia2 on Feb 13 to catch a morning flight to Macau.

After the attack, Jong Nam sought help at the customer service counter but died on the way to Putrajaya Hospital.

Besides Doan and Siti, local Muhammad Farid Jallaludin and North Korean Ri Jong Chol have also been nabbed in connection with the murder.
